Winding Down

It's hard to believe that the winter seasons are winding down already.  The final regular season games and events come to a close in less than 2 weeks, tournament draws have already taken place and post-season tournements begin this weekend for some.

It's a cause for reflection and appreciation.  To reflect on how quickly we've gotten to this point of the season, the final games that might be played for a senior, a look back at what went right and what needs to be improved upon to extend a post season.  And to appreciate the fact that you had an opportunity to be a part of something special.  A Team!

Too often, we get caught up in the fact that we didn't get enough playing time, that our win-loss record might not be what we had envisioned, or perhaps we've fallen short of our goals for the season.

I hope that as we take this opportunity to reflect, that we do so by focusing more on the appreciation and not so much on the critical reflection of what might have been.  The memories that you'll have 10, 15 or even 20 years from now will be of the commoraderie and sense of being, rather than that of the miscues that happened along the way.  So take a moment to enjoy where you are, what you were a part of and what you can take away as you go forward in life, school and for some your sport.  And...if you can appreciate that now, reflect on areas that can be improved in the immediate future, you just might have the chance to extend a season that is quickly coming to a close.
